The Morrill Lions had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 49 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against Crawford by a score of 48-35. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Morrill also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Morrill's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooklyn Brown, who scored 13 points along with six steals. Brown hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Kinzley Hess was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
When it comes to explaining why Crawford lost, one person who can't be blamed is Britney Klein. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 45.7% of Crawford's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Sage Dyer, who scored four points along with nine rebounds.
Morrill's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. As for Crawford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.
Morrill and Bayard will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bayard is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.8 points per game. Crawford will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hyannis at 5:00 p.m. on January 17th. Hyannis is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
