The Sabinal Yellowjackets lost against the Charlotte Trojans back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Sabinal was beaten by Charlotte 61-27. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sabinal in their matchups with Charlotte: they've now lost seven in a row.
Gabby Mata continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Charlotte, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Mata is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kadence Luna, who scored 13 points along with five assists and three steals.
Sabinal's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Charlotte, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-15.
Sabinal will head out on the road to face off against Stacey at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stacey comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Charlotte, they will be playing in front of their home fans against La Pryor at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. La Pryor's defense has only allowed 28.3 points per game this season, so Charlotte's offense will have their work cut out for Charlotte.
