Citrus Belt recap September 24, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Billy Gustason III and Brandon Scott connected against San Gorgonio. The connection was good for 80 yards, the longest such play in Citrus Belt this season.
Redlands East Valley fell to Vista Murrieta 69-21 last week, the largest margin of any game. Mark Neilssien threw for 150 yards and ran for 101 yards in the defeat.
Yucaipa's dynamic duo of Gustason III and Scott proved to be unstoppable against the Spartans, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gustason III threw for 440 yards and 2 touchdowns and Scott had 316 yards receiving. Erik Abrams helped Yucaipa's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 56 yards.
The Thunderbirds' dynamic duo of Gustason III and Scott proved tough for San Gorgonio to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Scott was the best wideout in the league this week as Yucaipa lost to Ron Gueringer's team.
Scott had a great week catching the football as Justin Price's team lost to the Spartans.
Gustason III put up the best numbers in passing as the Thunderbirds fell to San Gorgonio.
He was 16-22 with 1 interception.
Zack Lindsey was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 165 yards on 21 carries as Redlands lost to the Spartans. Teammate Anthony Graziano added to the ground attack by rushing for 111 yards.
The Thunderbirds' Gustason III and Scott have formed a dream team this season, leading Citrus Belt in both passing and receiving yards. Gustason III has thrown for 885 yards this season, while Scott, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 16 catches for 524 yards. The Terriers' Lindsey leads the league in rushing yards with 394.
Redlands led the league in scoring this week after putting up 35 points on Palm Desert. Kody Whitaker threw for 225 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 10 yards in the win.
