The Point Loma Pointers will challenge the Mira Mesa Marauders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Point Loma's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while Mira Mesa has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
Point Loma took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Otay Ranch, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Pointers had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 4-3 on Tuesday.

Ryoko Schroth was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Annika Isaacson, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Siena Balistreri, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Point Loma lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Mira Mesa posted their closest win since March 5th on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past Coronado 4-3. The victory continues a trend for the Marauders in their matchups with the Islanders: they've now won five in a row.
Brooklyn Haug spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Mira Mesa saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aria Phruksukarn, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Taylor Lao was another, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Point Loma is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Mira Mesa, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
Point Loma suffered a grim 12-3 defeat to Mira Mesa when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Pointers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
