Petoskey has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Clare Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, Petoskey made easy work of Sault Area and carried off a 27-7 victory.
Meanwhile, Clare had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 50.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Shepherd 48-0 at home. Given Clare's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 130th, while Shepherd is ranked 334th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clare's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Westyn Bryant, who rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Jayden Arthur was another key contributor, rushing for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries.
Their wins bumped Petoskey to 5-3 and Clare to 6-2.
