The Lowell Red Devils will challenge the Munster Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lowell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Lowell is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Illiana Christian just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Saturday. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings.
Lowell saw nine different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zak Scharnke, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Another was Roan Cantlon, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Munster ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Lincoln-Way Central 4-3. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Munster also got a great performance from Jack Kunas as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nate Southwell, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Donovan Craig was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Munster's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Lowell, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lowell has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .494. However, it's not like Munster struggles in that department as they've averaged .447. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lowell might still be hurting after the 11-3 loss they got from Munster in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
