Westview is 8-2 against Sunset since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Westview Wildcats will be playing at home against the Sunset Apollos at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Oregon (Westview is ranked 96th, while Sunset is ranked 73rd).
Last Tuesday, Westview was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 34-30 to Southridge.
Despite the loss, Westview saw an underclassman step up: Dara Oluwafemi scored 23 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Leah Elms, who scored no points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Sunset can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. They breezed by Aloha at home to the tune of 67-30. The win was a breath of fresh air for Sunset as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Sunset found their leader in underclassman Ruby Foord, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Foord has scored all season. Rosa Martinez-Escobedo was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five steals.
Westview dropped their record down to 9-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Sunset, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Westview have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Sunset struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
