Flat Rock and Grosse Ile are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Flat Rock Rams will head out on the road to square off against the Grosse Ile Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Flat Rock focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
Flat Rock scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They put the hurt on Huron with a sharp 60-37 win. Flat Rock has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Flat Rock's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Lily Klein, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Madleen Hussein, who scored 29 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hussein has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mckenna Williams, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, Grosse Ile was able to grind out a solid victory over Jefferson on Thursday, taking the game 34-24. Given Grosse Ile's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while Jefferson is ranked 532nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Flat Rock now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Grosse Ile, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Flat Rock barely slipped by Grosse Ile in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, winning 49-48. Does Flat Rock have another victory up their sleeve, or will Grosse Ile turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
