Given Hampton Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the are ranked 356th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hampton Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Bryce Harris, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 assists. Harris has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Sean O'Connor, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Portsmouth Christian pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 69-60 to Isle of Wight Academy.
Hampton Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. As for Portsmouth Christian, they dropped their record down to 6-14 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Hampton Christian Academy took their victory against the Patriots when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 69-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hampton Christian Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
