The Eastmark Firebirds entered their tilt with the Poston Butte Broncos with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Eastmark managed a 25-21 victory over Poston Butte on Thursday. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Eastmark has scored all season.
Anna LaFountain continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Vega, who scored six points.
Poston Butte's loss came despite strong showings from Autumn Thomas and Julia Harris. Thomas scored five points along with 13 rebounds and four steals, while Harris scored three points along with six steals and five rebounds. Harris hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games.
Eastmark is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Poston Butte, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-8.
Eastmark will look to defend their home court on Friday against American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North at 7:00 p.m. American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Poston Butte, they will head out on the road to take on Combs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Combs will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Poston Butte is ranked 88th).
