Pine had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.7 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They had just enough and edged the Mandeville Skippers out 55-52. This was payback for the Raiders, who suffered a 60-37 loss the last time these two teams met.

Mandeville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alanna Benoit, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Benoit has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklynn Vasquez, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 14 points.

Pine's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Mandeville, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

Pine and Fontainebleau will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mandeville, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-39 victory against Archbishop Hannan on the 21st.
