Clayton and East Wake are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Clayton Comets will host the East Wake Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Clayton is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Rolesville with a sharp 13-3 win.

The team relied heavily on Autumn Joyce, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in triples. Another player making a difference was Mallory Kuykendal, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Clayton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rolesville only posted an OBP of .318.
Meanwhile, while East Wake put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Knightdale. East Wake blew past Knightdale 22-0. The Warriors have beaten the Knights the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Knights has come to flipping the script.
Scarlett Avila-Cristobal made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Avila-Cristobal was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.
In other batting news, Alissa Flood was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-4. Sophia Saucillo was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.
Everything went Clayton's way against East Wake in their previous matchup back in April of 2021, as Clayton made off with a 17-0 victory. Does Clayton have another victory up their sleeve, or will East Wake turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
