If The Sanderson Spartans were riding high off their 48-24 takedown of the Enloe Eagles last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Sanderson took a 42-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Broughton on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brilison McCullers, who rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Tabion Elliott, who rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Broughton was led to victory by Owen Vogler and Johnnie Davis. Vogler threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per attempt, while Davis gained 144 total yards and three touchdowns. Chauncey Sumpter was another key contributor, picking up 111 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Sanderson has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Broughton, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 4-6.
Sanderson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Broughton also has no future games currently scheduled.
