Even though the El Capitan Vaqueros have not done well against the Mount Miguel Matadors recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. El Capitan came out on top against Mount Miguel by a score of 75-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Jason Wilson, who scored 31 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kale Curo, who scored 17 points.
Despite the loss, Mount Miguel still got an impressive performance from Mekhi Sydney, who scored 26 points along with two steals. Sean Abram was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
El Capitan pushed their record up to 19-7 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Mount Miguel, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Capitan will take on Grossmont at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grossmont has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Mount Miguel, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Santana at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th. Mount Miguel is facing Santana at the right time seeing as Santana is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
