Baseball Recap: Excel Has No Trouble Against Murphy

Excel got themselves on the board against Murphy on Friday, but Murphy never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over Murphy. With that win, Excel brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.

JP Norris made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.

In other batting news, Lane White was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. Guy Burton was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Excel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .821. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Excel and bumps their season record up to 7-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Murphy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Excel will head out to challenge LeFlore at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Murphy, they will square off against Bayshore Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
