Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Williams Vikings, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were the victim of a rough 51-29 defeat at the hands of the Hawks on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Williams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 244th, while The Gregory School is ranked 85th).
Despite the loss, Williams still got an impressive performance from JP Echeverria, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
The Gregory School got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Devin Dawson out in front who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Jackson Dickinson was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
This is the second loss in a row for Williams and nudges their season record down to 20-12. As for The Gregory School, the victory (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 25-3.
Williams does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for The Gregory School, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Joseph City at 7:00 p.m. on February 10th. Hopefully Joseph City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Wednesday.
