The Friends Quakers fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Chapelgate Christian Academy Yellowjackets on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Yellowjackets by a score of 70-67. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Friends in their matchups with Chapelgate Christian Academy: they've now lost six in a row.
Chapelgate Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julian Sabbat, who shot 4-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 28 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sabbat has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Justin Bishop, who scored 24 points.
Friends' defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Chapelgate Christian Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-10.
Friends will head out on the road to square off against Archbishop Curley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Chapelgate Christian Academy, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome St. John's Catholic Prep at 5:00 p.m. on February 9th. Chapelgate Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
