Jack Wilson was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Vedder Yates was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Denver Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Prospect Ridge Academy on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Miners by a score of 4-2. That's two games in a row now that the Thunder have lost by exactly two runs.
Mason Reilly was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Reilly was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Kent Denver's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Denver Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Kent Denver hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .368. However, it's not like Denver Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
