Manning is 10-0 against East Clarendon since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Manning Monarchs will head out on the road to face off against the East Clarendon Wolverines at 7:45 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Tuesday, Manning came up short against Crestwood and fell 65-52. It was the first time this season that Manning let down their fans at home.
Manning's defeat came about despite a quality game from Tavion Carter, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Cooper, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, East Clarendon's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 58-40 bruising from Hannah-Pamplico. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for East Clarendon in their matchups with Hannah-Pamplico: they've now lost four in a row.
Manning's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3. As for East Clarendon, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Manning against East Clarendon when the teams last played two weeks ago as the team secured a 61-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Manning since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
