Football Game Preview: Broken Bow Savages vs. Ada Cougars

Broken Bow hasn't had much luck against Ada recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Savages will look to defend their home field against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Broken Bow is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Hilldale: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Savages blew the Hornets out of the water with a 61-20 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-14.

Broken Bow can attribute much of their success to Greydon Howell, who rushed for 140 yards and four scores on only 11 carries, and Jattairrius Neal, who gained 193 total yards and four touchdowns. With that strong performance, Howell is now averaging an impressive 103.7 rushing yards per game.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Broken Bow was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 371 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.

Meanwhile, Ada put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 49-8 victory over Stilwell. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cougars' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Indians are ranked 145th).

Ada's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Broken Bow, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Broken Bow suffered a grim 55-34 defeat to Ada when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Cougars' Caron Richardson, who rushed for 220 yards and three TDs.
