There's no place like home for the Whitehorse Raiders, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Thursday. They managed a 45-40 victory over Monument Valley on Friday. For Whitehorse, this counts as revenge for the 87-82 loss Monument Valley walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.
Lyric Phillips was on fire: he scored 27 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Whitehorse's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Joe, who scored 6 points.
Monument Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braxton Goodshield, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Joshua Hicks, who scored 9 points.
The victory got Whitehorse back to even at 1-1. As for Monument Valley, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
Whitehorse won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Shiprock at 7:00 p.m. on December 2nd. Shiprock presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Whitehorse in their respective states (Shiprock is ranked sixth in New Mexico, while Whitehorse is ranked 69th in Utah). As for Monument Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Dulce at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
