Brennan Swindler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anthony Flamm Jr., who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Daniel Henke was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
St. Dominic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Webster Groves can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Festus 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Statesmen have posted since May 31, 2024.
St. Dominic's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Webster Groves, their victory bumped their record up to 9-19.
St. Dominic skirted past Webster Groves 2-1 in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Crusaders repeat their success, or do the Statesmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
