The Perry Meridian Falcons will head out on the road to take on the Whiteland Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Perry Meridian came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 8-0 to Roncalli. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Falcons have suffered against the Royals since May 29, 2017.
Perry Meridian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was DJ Clymore, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Whiteland hadn't done well against Center Grove recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Warriors came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 11-7. With that victory, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Blake Lyle looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Blake Riddle was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Maalik Perkins, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Perry Meridian's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-11. As for Whiteland, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Perry Meridian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Whiteland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Perry Meridian was able to grind out a solid win over Whiteland in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 7-4. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
