The Braddock Bulldogs will challenge the South Dade Buccaneers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Braddock will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
If Braddock beats South Dade with five runs on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Braddock beat Flanagan on Wednesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-1.
Jesus Moreno tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Braddock let Manny Sanchez and Brayan Martinez run wild. Sanchez scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Martinez went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most runs Sanchez has posted since back in April of 2024. Michael Sanchez was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Meanwhile, South Dade posted their closest win since May 1, 2024 on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over Keys Gate. The Buccaneers have beaten the Knights the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Knights has come to flipping the script.
Angel Ayala spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because South Dade is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-5 otherwise.
At the plate, Zac Tyre was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That stolen base was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kerniel Qui?ones, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Braddock's win bumped their record up to 8-1-1. As for South Dade, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
Braddock came out on top in a nail-biter against South Dade when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will Braddock repeat their success, or does South Dade have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
