6A District 1 recap September 24, 2013
Pace was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in 6A District 1. Earlier in the week, the Patriots defeated Washington 46-0.
Escambia scaled the state rankings by moving to 64 from 96 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Gators were able to move up by besting Pine Forest 24-7.
The Eagles' dynamic duo of Tyrone Jones and Raymond Teamer proved to be unstoppable against Escambia, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jones threw for 99 yards and Teamer had 43 yards receiving. Kenneth Burroughs helped Pine Forest's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 21 yards.
Pine Forest's dynamic duo of Jones and Teamer proved tough for Willie Spears' team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Teamer was the best wideout in the league this week as Jerry Pollard's team lost to the Gators.
Quaide Weimerskirch was the best running back in 6A District 1 this week. In 30 carries, he ran for 292 yards as Pace fell to Escambia. Jon Jon Martin also contributed to the rushing game with 124 yards on the ground.
Weimerskirch was a passing and rushing force as Mickey Lindsey's team defeated the Wildcats.
Jones put up the best numbers in passing as Pine Forest fell to the Gators.
Weimerskirch was a beast in the backfield as the Patriots topped Washington.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Jadon Jones. The Washington star has 6 catches for 168 yards.
In 64 carries Danikeei Hollowell has put up 909 yards this year.
Escambia extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Eagles, 24-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Gators.
