Alyssa Pingleton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elliana Cox, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Joslyn Bumgardner also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
South Putnam kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Cloverdale now has a losing record of 1-2. As for South Putnam, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cloverdale hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like South Putnam struggles in that department as they've averaged .409. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cloverdale suffered a grim 12-6 defeat to South Putnam in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Clovers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
