The Rutland Hurricanes can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They managed a 65-61 victory over Academy for Classical Education. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Among those leading the charge was Elijah Brooks, who scored 37 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Xavier Taylor, who scored 11 points.
Despite the defeat, Academy for Classical Education saw an underclassman step up: Camden Bailey scored 24 points. That's the first time this season that Bailey scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kanyin Oni, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.
The victory got Rutland back to even at 7-7. As for Academy for Classical Education, their defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-10.
Rutland will take on Kendrick at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Kendrick focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Friday. As for Academy for Classical Education, they will head out on the road to square off against Spencer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Spencer presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Academy for Classical Education in Georgia (Spencer is ranked 126th, while Academy for Classical Education is ranked 483rd).
