The losing side was boosted by Naimah Mota, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in blocks (three).
Even though they lost, Fivay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Mitchell's game on Wednesday was close up to the half, which is when they kicked things up a notch. They put the hurt on Nature Coast Tech with a sharp 65-44 win. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Mitchell found their leader in sophomore Kaylana Little, who almost dropped a triple-double on 23 points, nine boards, and ten steals. Those ten steals set a new season-high mark for Little. Brianna Coure was another key player, going 5 of 12 on her way to 12 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.
Mitchell is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Fivay, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Fivay has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 36.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Mitchell struggles in that department as they've been averaging 37.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Fivay took a serious blow against Mitchell in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 55-20. Will Fivay have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
