The Brooke Point Black Hawks won the last time they faced the Hylton Bulldogs, and things went their way on Thursday too. Brooke Point snuck past Hylton with a 45-40 win. Given Brooke Point's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Hylton is ranked 261st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brooke Point was led to victory by Seth Sanusi and Ryan Apietu. Sanusi scored 12 points along with 3 steals, while Apietu scored 11 points. Apietu continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Demabior Shokai was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 3 blocks.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Farmer Shaun, who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Amari Butler, who scored 10 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Brooke Point and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for Hylton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brooke Point will take on North Stafford at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hylton, they will head out on the road to face off against Osbourn Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
