The Templeton Eagles will look to defend their home field on Friday against the San Luis Obispo Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Templeton can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Morro Bay 44-10 at home. Templeton pushed the score to 37-10 by the end of the third, a deficit Morro Bay had little chance of recovering from.
Wyatt Ramey was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown. Another big playmaker for Templeton was Kolton Sobyra, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Templeton's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Morro Bay's QB won't forget Braden Mott anytime soon given Mott sacked him four times.
Meanwhile, San Luis Obispo had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three two weeks ago. They came out on top against Santa Maria by a score of 38-28.
Isaiah Hernandez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 248 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Hernandez is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jace Gomes, who rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Templeton now has a winning record of 5-4. As for San Luis Obispo, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Templeton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 230.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like San Luis Obispo struggles in that department as they've been even better at 298.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Templeton came up short against San Luis Obispo when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 35-28. Thankfully for Templeton, Luca Cuccaro (who rushed for 252 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
