The Pearsall Mavericks will head out to take on the Devine Warhorses at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pearsall is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
Pearsall proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 16) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over Pleasanton.

The team relied heavily on Makayla Hernandez, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kirsten Morales, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Devine entered their game against Somerset on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Devine took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Somerset.
Maddie Brown was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Zamora, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Pearsall pushed their record up to 15-8-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Devine, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 15-4.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pearsall has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .446. However, it's not like Devine struggles in that department as they've averaged .474. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pearsall suffered a grim 15-3 defeat to Devine when the teams last played on March 5th. Can Pearsall avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
