Baseball Recap: Lord Botetourt Has No Trouble Against Fleming

Lord Botetourt won the last time they faced Fleming and things went their way on Friday too. The Cavaliers were the clear victors by a 20-3 margin over the Colonels. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Jairdan Pennix made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Pennix was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lord Botetourt let Noah Donaho and Gavin Walker run wild. Donaho went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Walker went 1-for-2 with one home run and five RBI. Donaho is becoming a predictor of Lord Botetourt's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-2 (and 4-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Lonker, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Lord Botetourt kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Lord Botetourt and bumps their season record up to 11-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Fleming, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-16.
