Given Franklin's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while Socorro is ranked 428th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Franklin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Martinez, who scored 13 points along with 5 assists. The contest was Martinez's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Noah Hall was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 5 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Socorro lost, one person who can't be blamed is isaiah carbajal. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points along with 7 rebounds. Carbajal scored a full 53.1% of Socorro's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Astin Marquez, who scored 6 points along with 6 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Franklin and bumps their season record up to 5-3. As for Socorro, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
Franklin will take on Burges at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Socorro, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Greenwood at 11:00 a.m. on November 30th.
