Lake Mary Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Carson Cruse out in front who scored 20 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Cruse has scored at least 25% of Lake Mary Prep's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wade Brashears, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Orlando Science scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took down Hampden DuBose Academy 56-42. That 56-42 margin sets a new team best for Orlando Science this season.
Orlando Science's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Armin Ashori, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Ashori scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Myles Gipson, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Lake Mary Prep has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Orlando Science, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Lake Mary Prep have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 38.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Orlando Science struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 21.9 rebounds per game. Given Lake Mary Prep's sizeable advantage in that area, Orlando Science will need to find a way to close that gap.
