It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Summit Spartans can now relate to. They suffered a tough 38-14 loss at the hands of Brentwood on Friday. While losing is never fun, Summit can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Brentwood is ranked 11th).
Brentwood got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Baylor Hayes out in front who threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns while completing 79.3% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Clayton Merrill, who picked up 171 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Summit's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Brentwood, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.
Summit does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Brentwood will be playing in front of their home fans against Ravenwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ravenwood is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
