The Gadsden City Titans will take on the Albertville Aggies at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Having struggled with ten losses in a row, Gadsden City turned things around against Ragland on Tuesday. They walked away with a 13-9 win over the Purple Devils.
Naomi Wise made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. Wise was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jalynn Odom, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Kiera Hampton was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Albertville not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 11th. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Guntersville. Considering the Aggies have won nine matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Gadsden City, Albertville also got a great game from a two-way player: Adison Pierce. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Pierce has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-5.
In other pitching news, Chloe Reed tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
Back at the plate, Bethany Strickland was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kendra McCaffrey, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
The victory got Albertville back to even at 13-13-2. As for Gadsden City, their win bumped their record up to 8-23.
Gadsden City might still be hurting after the 14-3 defeat they got from Albertville in their previous matchup back in February. Will the Titans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
