Mullen has been on the road for three straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Aurora Central Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mullen knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Aurora Central likes a good challenge.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 17 more assists than your opponent, a fact Mullen proved on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lakewood 79-45 on the road. That looming 79-45 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Mullen yet this season.
Jordan Leslie was his usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 16 points, ten rebounds, and 12 assists. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Anderson Brendle, who scored 22 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Aurora Central scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 80-47 victory over Prairie View at home. With that victory, Aurora Central brought their scoring average up to 55 points per game.
Aurora Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Camron Crisp out in front who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Crisp pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alejandro (Alex) Flores, who scored 27 points.
Mullen now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Aurora Central, their win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's matchup: Mullen have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 7.8 threes per game. It's a different story for Aurora Central, though, as they've been averaging only 4.8 threes per game. Given Mullen's sizeable advantage in that area, Aurora Central will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mullen strolled past Aurora Central in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a score of 69-50. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Aurora Central's Cia'Reis Curby, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for Mullen to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
