The Leadership Academy Falcons scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 60-34 margin over College Prep & Leadership Academy. Given Leadership Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 257th, while College Prep & Leadership Academy is ranked 600th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leadership Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ali Faenza out in front who scored 17 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Faenza scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Emmy Guldberg, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Despite the loss, College Prep & Leadership Academy still got an impressive performance from Melody Johnson, who scored 13 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Da?nysa Holloway, who scored six points along with three steals.
Leadership Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Leadership Academy will head out on the road to challenge North Forsyth at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. College Prep & Leadership Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against GRACE Christian at 3:00 p.m. on January 13th.
