On Tuesday, the Foothill Falcons faced the Centennial Bulldogs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Foothill escaped with a win against Centennial by the margin of a single free throw, 74-73. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Foothill's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zak Abdalla, who scored 24 points along with six assists. Abdalla has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Branden Castro, who scored 15 points along with five assists.
Foothill pushed their record up to 16-9 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Centennial, they now have a losing record at 12-13.
Foothill will head out on the road to take on Spring Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Spring Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nevada Rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Foothill is ranked fifth). Centennial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
