Softball Recap: White Knoll Wins Going Away Against Irmo

White Knoll won the last time they faced Irmo and things went their way on Monday too. The Timberwolves were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Yellow Jackets. Considering the Timberwolves have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

EG Birchmore was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jaida Gay was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Reginae Porterfield was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

White Knoll was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .576. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for White Knoll and bumps their season record up to 11-7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Irmo, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. White Knoll will square off against Mid-Carolina at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Irmo, they will take on Gilbert at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
