The Saegertown Panthers will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Rocky Grove Orioles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Saegertown knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Rocky Grove likes a good challenge.
It was a proper cat-fight when Saegertown took on Maplewood on Friday. The Panthers blew past the Tigers 19-6. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Panthers this season.
Levi Gardner was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Wyatt Burchill was a standout: he fired off three home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. Demarcus Manning was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Saegertown lost a few balls and finished the game with six home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maplewood only launched one home run.
Meanwhile, Rocky Grove came up short against Cochranton on Friday and fell 9-5. The loss put an end to the Orioles' undefeated start to the season.
Isaac Grigsby was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Aaron Wetjen, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Saegertown pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Rocky Grove, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Saegertown has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Rocky Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Saegertown's way against Rocky Grove when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Saegertown made off with a 10-0 victory. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Orioles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
