The Cayuga Wildcats are on the road again on Friday and play against the Tolar Rattlers at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Cayuga walked away with it. They managed a 20-14 win over Riesel on Friday.
Cayuga got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gunner Douglas out in front who rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 46 yards and a touchdown. Cayuga also got a significant boost from Whit Jenkins, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.
Meanwhile, Tolar entered their tilt with Trenton with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Tolar simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Trenton 57-12 at home. Considering Tolar has won ten matchups by more than 22 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Tolar's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Garrison Nation led the charge by rushing for 60 yards and two touchdowns. Nation was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 58 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Blessing, who threw for 65 yards and two touchdowns on only five passes.
Cayuga pushed their record up to 7-4 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Tolar, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Cayuga has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 287 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Tolar struggles in that department as they've been averaging 175.5 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
