Basketball Recap: Selena Wilson Key Part of a Team Effort in Fighting Irish Win

After losing to South Harrison the last time they met, Notre Dame decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish managed a 42-37 victory over the South Harrison Hawks on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Fighting Irish.

Notre Dame's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Selena Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Wilson a new career-high in assists (seven). Another player making a difference was Addy Murray, who posted eight points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Despite the loss, South Harrison still got an impressive performance from Halle Bland, who went 9 of 18 on her way to 22 points and three blocks. Bland is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Rylee Rudder, who had six points and seven rebounds.

Notre Dame's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for South Harrison, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Notre Dame didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-24 win against Liberty on the 10th. As for South Harrison, they will host Webster County at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
