Basketball Recap: Latishia Nez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cuba over Mccurdy

On Saturday, the Cuba Rams came up short against the McCurdy Bobcats and fell 62-53. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Latishia Nez, who posted 13 points in addition to seven steals and six blocks. With that strong performance, Nez is now averaging an impressive 2.2 blocks per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Cara Toledo, who scored 19 points along with five steals and three blocks.

Cuba's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for McCurdy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Cuba has already played their next game (against Cottonwood Classical Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. McCurdy will face off against Santa Fe Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McCurdy is facing Santa Fe Prep at the right time seeing as Santa Fe Prep is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
