Taylor is 0-10 against Trenton since May of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Griffins will venture away from home to challenge the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. Taylor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, Taylor needed a bit of extra time to put away Inter-City Baptist. They won by a run and slipped past the Chargers 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Griffins have posted since May 2, 2024.
Madelynn Waddell ?26 and Joslyn MacKenzie ?25 made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Waddell ?26 tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, MacKenzie ?25 struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. At bat, Waddell ?26 went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while MacKenzie ?25 went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That triple was Waddell ?26's first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amelia Adams ?27, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Sierra Murdoch ?25, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Taylor kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Trenton made easy work of Milan on Saturday and carried off an 18-4 victory.
Lauryn Holder spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Emme Febela was a standout: she fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-4. Kara Fedea was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Trenton's record is now 8-4. As for Taylor, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Taylor might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Trenton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Griffins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
