Baseball Game Preview: Northwest Cabarrus Trojans vs. South Rowan Raiders

The Northwest Cabarrus Trojans will head out to face off against the South Rowan Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest Cabarrus will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Northwest Cabarrus took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against East Rowan, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted since April 29, 2024.

Ben Able was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. Northwest Cabarrus is undefeated when Able posts two or more runs, but 1-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cooper Greene, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, South Rowan had just enough and edged out Concord 2-1 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.

South Rowan's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Northwest Cabarrus, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12.

Northwest Cabarrus suffered a grim 10-2 defeat to South Rowan when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
