6-Man District 1 (6 Man) recap Sept. 26, 2012
Clovis Christian's J.V. Parales rumbled for the longest rushing play in 6-Man District 1 (6 Man) this season in his game against Reserve last week. Parales scampered for 60 yards on the play and finished with 135 on the day as his team topped the Mountaineers.
Lake Arthur extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Hondo, 50-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Panthers.
Clovis Christian's dynamic duo of Nate Turvaville and Dalton Hardy proved tough for Reserve to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Turvaville threw for 121 yards and Hardy had 99 yards receiving. Parales helped Clovis Christian's passing attack out by catching one ball for 15 yards.
Miguel Rubio was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 207 yards on 15 carries as Lake Arthur defeated Gary Allison's team. Teammate Cody Dalton added to the ground attack by rushing for 100 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Jacob Benally of San Jon/Grady is the league leader in passing yards this season with 376. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. On the ground, Jose Porras's team's Rubio has rushed for 686 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Hardy. The Clovis Christian star has seven catches for 163 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Dora and the Coyotes. The Coyotes enters the game ranked second in the state, while San Jon/Grady ranks 11th.
The Coyotes took down Vaughn 59-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
