The Pisgah Bears waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 60-51 victory over Smoky Mountain. Given Pisgah's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Mustangs are ranked 367th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rylee Campbell had a dynamite game for Pisgah, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and five steals. It was the first time this season that Campbell scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Dot Mills, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Smoky Mountain lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Braelyn Mulligan, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and four steals. Julia Macaulay was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Pisgah has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Smoky Mountain, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-12.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing North Henderson the next time they take the court. Pisgah will head out to face the Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Mustangs will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
