It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Wayne Christian Eagles had no problem doing just that on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Faith Christian 52-14 on the road. The win was familiar territory for Wayne Christian who now have ten in a row.
Wayne Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Oliver Thomas led the charge by rushing for 197 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Thomas really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Winders, who rushed for 115 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries.
Despite the loss, Faith Christian still got an impressive performance from Michael Grant, who rushed for 39 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 58 receiving yards.
Wayne Christian's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Faith Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
Wayne Christian will face off against Rocky Mount Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rocky Mount Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last ten games. Faith Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
