The Polytechnic Panthers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Monrovia, falling 54-22. While losing is never fun, Polytechnic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 737th, while Monrovia is ranked 365th).
Brian Salazar Jr continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Monrovia, rushing for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 273 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Joshua Griffiths also helped out with an impressive 87 receiving yards.
Polytechnic now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Monrovia, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Polytechnic will take on South Pasadena at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. As for Monrovia, they will head out on the road to face off against San Marino at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. San Marino is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
